Man to man: A rite of passage
Opportunities for positive male mentorship are scarce in our current society. Like the historic rite of passage—a man learning from another who has “gone before” him—we believe that a man working with a male therapist can bring about similar growth. Our goal is to foster a secure therapeutic relationship with you in our protected office environment that gives you the tools to grow and mature into the person you want to become. The Lowcountry Men’s Counseling Center is a place where painful experiences and beliefs can be shared in an environment without judgment or shame. It is a place for you to examine the expectations placed on you by yourself and others (parents, church, society, significant others, etc.)
Lowcountry Men’s Counseling is here to help you end your sense of isolation and re-emerge with your true self-identity. Your personal rite of passage.

COUNSELING FOR Mature relationshipS
Becoming a mature partner in intimate relationships means learning how to appropriately take responsibility for outcomes. A mature relationship evolves from mature partners. Mature partners are able to:
Commit to the work that healthy relationships require
See one another’s needs
Comprehend how personal childhood experiences play into current relationship dynamics
Mutually respect one another’s decision-making, ways of doing things (e.g. driving), individual tastes, feelings, strengths, weaknesses, family relationships (e.g. in-laws), personal histories, and challenging or annoying behaviors (e.g. collecting things or not putting clothes away)
Develop insight and relationship skills in order to not take unwanted feelings out on others (e.g. wife, partner, child, friend, parent)
Stop the baggage of past relationships from interfering with those in the present
Notice patterns of blame, frustration, anger, and resentment, and take responsibility for changing the dynamic
Support one another’s growth
Take responsibility for personal growth and self-care, maintain a sense of self inside of a relationship
Learn to accept one another unconditionally
A mature relationship is one where each person takes responsibility for themselves, how they show up, and how they behave. In mature relationships we are able to build trust and experience true intimacy.
